ABIDE IN CHRIST

TEXT: JOHN 15:4-7

Key Verse: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me” (John 15:4).

At salvation, a child’s sins are forgiven. He or she receives eternal life and the power to remain in Christ. To abide means to remain and continue to live by the word of God. Just as the branch of a tree has life only as long as it remains attached to the tree, so believers have Christ’s life only as long as they abide in Him.

The conditions for remaining in Christ are:

(i) Keeping God’s word continually in the heart and making it the guide for your actions.

(ii) Maintaining the habit of constant intimate communion with Christ in order to draw strength from Him.

(iii) Obeying His command to love one another.

(iv) Keeping yourself clean through His word.

(v) Resisting sin and yielding to the Spirit’s direction.
You must not allow the cares of the world and its influences to make you turn your back on Christ. Remain with Him and He will bless and keep you till the end.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to abide in You and do Your will all the days of my life.
